After much consultation with the Australian Medical Association, the preferred massage position for comfort to mother and child is seated upright position for neck and shoulder massage, followed by left-side lying for massage on back, lower back/gluts and feet etc.

For safety and comfort reasons we have chosen not to use pregnancy tables in our treatments. The fixed arrangement of abdomen holes etc can make it necessary to add padding and pillows to the table to make the table dimensions more comfortable for each individual mother’s body and baby.

By working off a standard massage table, and placing our precious Mum in left side lying position, we can comfortably support the upper leg with pillows to take away any load bearing on the hips and abdomen area.  This allows for a greater feeling of natural relaxation and ease for our Mum’s posture.

Safe treatments are a major issue for us at Rainesforest, and we will totally tailor each treatment to suit an individual mother’s situation.   The Mum-to-be discusses treatment needs and we focus the massage treatment where necessary, relieving lower limb swelling, easing off pressure around the sacro-illiac lower back joints, helping the upper back carry the additional weight of accommodating breasts etc.
